What is xAPI (Experience API / Tin Can)?
xAPI (the Experience API, formerly "Tin Can API") is a specification for recording a wide range of learning experiences — not just course completions, but activities inside and outside an LMS — as simple "actor-verb-object" statements stored in a Learning Record Store (LRS).
Why it matters
xAPI captures learning that happens beyond formal courses (simulations, on-the-job tasks, mobile), giving a fuller picture than SCORM alone.
